Try talking to them. They aren't at all interested in returning to their home. The one sitting on the log is the only normal guy in the bunch. Give him your Grape Juice, and he'll hand over the Fishing Rod.
You'll also get Mimi, a type of bait.Stay in the general area and fish to bolster your rod's strength. This is a good place to do it, as the Firbit is always nearby to give you more bait. You can also return to previous floors to tackle the fishing challenges they present, though it isn't likely that you'll succeed at any of them. Find any pool of water and start fishing.
When you finally tire of this, reel it in and move on.Advance deeper into the swamp, and you will encounter a freakishly hairy individual by the name of Master Utan. Poor guy, sitting all alone in the forest with no friends.

This is one of the easiest scoops in the whole game.Head back to the swamp and fish until you catch at least one Priscleen, then stand in front of the giant pool and put a Poison Apple on your hook. Toss it in, catch a fish, and do your thing. Way to win the favor of the 'Holy One.' I'm not quite sure he'd really want a lip piercing, but Monica seems to think so. Go back and catch one if you didn't before. 'Kiss all the grime off my body' must be the most disturbing thing I've heard all week. Anyway, return to the clearing with the Firbits, speak to the mustachioed midgets, and head back to Sindain. SindainEnter the Dwarves' House, and watch the joyous reunion. For some reason, the head dwarf wants to repay you by sending you off after Holly. You're going that way anyway, so you might as well look for their pastry wench.Head outside, and you'll be treated to your real reward: a helicopter-like device that builds anything you can think of. Meet Carpenterion.
You'll get a short explanation of the machine, and Geostones. Going with the tutorial mode, you'll run into your first Time Gate outside. Monica will talk about this one. If your brain happens to turn into a pudding-like substance during one of these explanations, feel free to zonk out for a while.

Welcome to my ultimate fish guide. I decided to make this guide after noticing that there's not anything else to make a guide on except fishing, plus I want to help people. Hope you enjoy the guide and if you want use some info ask me what part first, so I know if its mine or not. If not I'll tell you who to ask for permission.

II. How to Fish
--------------------
Well its pretty straight forward right, wrong. I kept trying and it failed to work and I realized what an idiot I am. Well you start by opening the menu and going to the item section. You then equipt the fishing rod on MAX and then select it as you were looking for the build up and select ' put bait on' or something like that, then select your bait. Now go up to water of some sort and press X. Then move around with L3 ( The left joystick), to determine where to throw the bait. once thrown I recomend to change the view with L2. Now you can see this red ball. Wait till it completly goes under water ( It should start vibrating if you have that function on )then pull L3 back, do not press X like me. That will result in an anoying red exclamation mark over your head and no fish. Once you got the fish hooked, time to reel it in by pressing X. Now don't reel it in more than your rod can handle. Be sure to watch the meter at the right if the pink/purple bar goes to the end your line snaps. Not good at all. So slowly follow a pattern of pressing X and waiting for it to go down. After awhile the bar won't go down all the way resulting in less reeling in time. The bar at the bottom right will tell you how close the fish is as well as the thing that says ___ meters and goes down as you reel in more. At about 1-1.5 meters the fish should be caught. Now you know how to acually fish, time for the next step.
Your main objective should be to focus on combo hits and avoiding flagged targets which can lower your score. Again, practice and move as fast as possible.High Frequency BladeUsing the High Frequency Blade takes some practice, but if you've got the skills, then completing the levels shouldn't be a problem. 
Very straightforward and I presume you'll know what to do.
III. Types Of Bait
-------------------------
Well you might want to recruit Faibo ( the firbit ) who sells you bait. to do so talk to him in Palm Brinks Lake on the dock near the boat. He demands you catch a 60cm Nonky, which in my opinion is a little demanding. Anyway head down to the swamp in Sindain dungeon, because it is the best place to catch one. Use a mimi, don't get frustrated ( you probably will unless your lucky ^-^ ), and you should have one. Fabio demands to live near river obviously so place him in a house in Sindain.
Here's the list of bait and what it does
Prickly - Raises fish's tentacity
Mimi - Raises fish's endurance
Carrot - Raises fish's boost. Changes fish gender
Battan - Raises fish's tentacity
Evy - Raises fish's stamina
Minion - Raises fish's boost
Petite Fish - Raises fish's endurance
Potato Cake - Raises fish's stamina.
Strength - Well this is how good a fish will fight others
Endurance - The fishes defence ( why don't they jus call it defense?)
Boost - Fishes speed
Stamina - Endurance lol. Basically how long the fish can withstand a race
Tentacity - This will determine how a fish fights.
The fish have personalities believe it or not and here they are
Clownish - Fools around a lot.
Moody - Behaves in various ways depending on mood..
Sore loser - Doesn't care about winning at all.
Reckless - Lacking in caution. Blows all energy out then is tired.
IV. Lure Rod
---------------
The lure rod is a special rod that uses lures instead of bait. The best part is lures never run out. To get it you need to win finny frenzy ( see contests ), and buy win I mean 1st place. Then talk to Olivia ( a girl firbit ) and she will join you. She sells the lure rob for like 1400 or 1600 and each lure for 300. The lures are as follows:
Frog - Move the analog stick left 3 times and right 2, the reel in a bit.
Minnow - For every 2 left/right movements, reel in a bit with X button. Repeat the process.
Spinner - Just cast and reel it in immediately once a fish got stuck with it. However, you will be using it like the Minnow.
Fork - Use it like you are using the Frog Lure
V. Upgrading Your Rod
-----------------------
Well your rod has 5 stats and they can be upgraded by one, for every 100 fishing points you get, which are obtained from catching fish. The bigger and better ( meaning rarer ) the fis the more points obtained. Here's the stats:
Flight - How far it goes, kinda pointless to upgrade it, but if you feel like casting to the moon go ahead.
Resilience - How fast you can bring the fish in .
Strength - The strength of your line
Grip - Self explanitory, don't waste too much time on this
Luck - This will help you in acually seeing these fish.

VII. Raising Fish
-------------------------
To raise their stats you'll need to feed them. (see baits ) You can only feed them once in awhile, don't ask when just once in awhile. Strength however can only be raised by putting 2 fish in the battle tank and doing something for awhile, such as a deogeon floor. Make sure to use the same fish or one could die and all your work would go to waste.
VIII. Contests
-----------------
There are 2 contests 'Fishing Contest' and 'Finny Frenzy'. They will be indicated on the menu in a green banner form. This will tell you how much time you have to enter, when it reaches zero too bad. They appear once every ten game days. To participait talk to the owl on the stick. Once you leave its over. Note you can only win once for every fish in finny frenzy which I find very stupid.
Fishing Contest - You can have 10 fish participait, but oly 3 can win. basically its a weighing contest, the biggest fish wins. Prize a lure rod, wow. ( that was sarcastic by the way. )
Finny Frenzy - This is a fish 3 consisting of 3 heats, 1st, 2nd, and Final. To advance you need 2nd or better. There are 6 preperation tanks which determine how your fish races:
Tank 1 - Keep A Steady Pace - The fish will use the same speed throughout the race.
Tank 2 - With All Your Might - The fish goes as fast as possible but gets tired.
Tank 3- Come Out Fighting - At the beginning of race, the fish accelerates fast then goes at a steady pace.
Tank 4 - The Last Shall Be First - The fish begins the race with a steady pace and boosts its speed upon reaching the fishing line.
Tank 5- Settle It In The Ring - Fish will bump other fishes a lot to slow them down. Strength is factor here..
Tank 6- Go With The Middle - To get 2nd or 3rd placing easily, choose this..
I personally prefer tank 4 but its up to you. The prizes are as follows:
1st - begginer - Mardan Sword x1
2nd - begginer - Destruction Crystal x3
3rd - beginner - Protector Crystal x1
1st - junior - Garayan Sword x1
2nd - junior - Mighty Healing x1
3rd - junior - Lighting Crystal x1
1st - senior - Mardan Garayan x1
2nd - senior - Drain Seeker x1
3rd - senior - Kitchen Knife x1
1st - master - Sun Stone x1
2nd - master - Moon Stone x1

X. Catch the Ultimate Fish
-------------------------------
So you want the ultimate fish eh? Or not, why is it because it only gives you 300 fishing points for even the smallest? I thought so. The first one I caught was 80cm and worth 345 fishing points. Its called the Baron Garyan. In order to catch it you need a lure rod with the fork lure. Go to Heim Rada and fish at the hot spring on your left, take the path down. at 4-9 pm and throw out your lure and you'll notice you can't change your view, hard huh? Well after awhile you'll notice a red exclamation over your head and its time to pull back L3. Now carefull if your rod sucks because the bar skyrockets with a tap. You can find one about once per try, the best of luck! ^-^
