For me I wasn't asking out of necessity. If I am able to purchase a mat it would help me out with knowing where to put things as I am not experienced and the look and feel of it would be very appreciated as i find it frustrating sometimes to pick up cards without accidentally bending them from flat surfaces.

(I dont have long nails). So for sure this isnt necessary. But mage knight is one of my favourites so I would love to add to the experience.

I dont think it will save that much space as you could position it to your liking yourself but potentially reduce setup time if you're a beginner like me. If it's not to expensive I would definitely purchase one as its more of a cherry on top.
